Pink, stripes and silver highlights

Good Morning, Hope you all had a great weekend, especially all of you mummy’s out there on Mothers Day yesterday.
I had a Mothers Day weekend really ( milked it for all I could) because I knew that I was being taken out on Sunday for lunch, I thought I would take my mum out on the Saturday for a special Mothers Day afternoon tea.
This was a great opportunity to get my new ASOS pink midi skirt an outing, Yes you read right PINK. The 30 day challenge has left its mark, and I am introducing more colour to my wardrobe, this my be temporary but we will see!
I teamed the pink skirt with a striped bretton top from H&M which has got great detailing of little gold buttons on the cuffs and one shoulder, silver heels from ASOS and silver skinny belt from Next.
I felt very girly and was told I looked like a “Princess” by Charlie ( he is going to be the biggest charmer) so all in all the outfit was a winner.
What do you think? It is a bit different to my normal style, but do you think it is a keeper?

On Sunday we had a really lazy morning, so leaving it until the last minute we were rushing round getting ready to go out, so I didn't get a picture of my Mothers Day outfit.
I have put a picture on at the restaurant though as a proud mummy with my three boys.

Switching over to my new blog today so I really hope you like it.

Stripes, leopard and “bob"

Hi Folks, hope you have had a good day.
I went for it today and had half of my hair cut off!! I always wore my hair up and have worn it up for about the last two years.
So the time came today to get rid of it so that I could wear it in different ways, straight, wavy, little pony tail, up, down. Why didn’t you wear it different when it was long I hear you cry!… well it had gone fine on the ends and out of shape and I really didn’t like it down. I needed to have a fresh look and to get rid of fine straggly ends. I was really nervous after all you wear your hair everyday and for a women its a massive part of your overall look and I had doubts right up until I saw the shine of the scissors. I am glad I have done it now though and everyone seems to like it. Phew! The first words little Charlie said was “ Ooh Mummy you have your hair like a lady” I am not sure what this means, I am hoping he means pretty and not old, but in the eyes of a 4yr old who knows.
With my imminent haircut in mind today as with most days it was important for me to feel extra comfortable in what I was wearing so my usual casual look entailed.
Jeans, striped vest top, leopard skaters and leather jacket, comfort personified and ready to face the chopping block!
I think it may be tomorrow for my new look blog to emerge, so hopefully that will go smoothly and I wont loose any of my fantastic readers. Please let me know on this blog if you have any problems. I will have the same Bloglovin connection so all my followers on that will be ok.
Do you like the new look? Let me know what what you think ( good or bad, I can take it! )

Take care

Black, White and Gold

With the challenge over, it was a bit strange standing in front of my wardrobe this morning without instructions. So after being told what to wear for 30 days, I went straight for my creature comforts.
I actually forgot I had these jeans, they are 7 For All Mankind and are a really dark navy blue, fit like a glove and go with everything, so I wore these with my new H&M shirt , M&S scarf  and of course my creme de la creme new IRO Paris jacket.
I think the splash of yellow and gold in the scarf is gorgeous and I wore it with a similar outfit in the post The game changer scarf .
Tomorrow is the day I am going for a new look. I mentioned before that I always wear my hair up because I don’t like it down, and I am getting really bored with it. So the chop it is, also I am going to go a bit of a darker blonde, it seems that I get lighter and lighter each time I have it coloured and it is looking a bit brash!
High on Luxe is also having a makeover which I am even more excited about and can’t wait to show you…not long now.
Are you thinking about changing anything in your life? Appearance? Job? Husband? ( just kidding)
Let me know if you have got some exciting changes ahead.

Until Tomorrow

Take care

Challenge day 29 & 30…… Challenge complete!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend.
Mine was extremely hectic as expected as I explained in my previous post it was my son’s 4th Birthday party. It was a fantastic party, a traditional children’s party with party games, children's entertainer , balloons and bags of fun.
The children were probably climbing the ceiling when they got home after bucket loads of sandwiches, crisps, buns and jelly and ice cream, but I doubt they would have had such a great time on cous cous and humus. I did put the token bowls of carrots and cucumbers out but the sweet covered cupcakes were the food of choice for these party go’ers!
So today I am giving you a double whammy, two outfit posts for the price of one! My weekend attire.

Challenge Day 29: Give a feminine dress some edge with a moto jacket.
As I mentioned on Friday I was so excited to have delivered an IRO Paris leather jacket I had won in a style competition by Harvey Nichols. It is so soft and really different from my other leather jackets as it has white trim detailing and is more cropped than my others. It fits like a glove and I know I will be wearing it a lot, even in the summer months as it is very lightweight and will look great with floaty midi skirts.
I wore it with a dress I have worn before its a cream Amanda Wakeley dress and again this is a versatile dress which can be worn in the day or at night. Teamed with ASOS metallic silver heels and this is my challenge day 29.
Hope you like it.

Challenge day 30: Leave the details to the shoes.
As with many things with this challenge I have realised that not only do I like neutral no fuss clothes but I also like simple classic shoes: Pointed courts for my choice of heels and ballet pumps or skaters for my choice of flats. So looking through my shoe collection and bearing in mind I would be on my feet all day serving orange juice and sandwiches, I decided that the best detailed shoes I could muster were my lovely leopard print slip-on’s. Comfy, detailed( pattern) and great to add interest to a neutral outfit.
I also wore a loose blouse and fluffy jacket both from H&M and skinny jeans.

Drum roll please………MY 30 DAY WHO, WHAT, WEAR CHALLENGE IS COMPLETE!!!

I will take a few changes with me to my everyday style, colour for one ( some colours) and hats!
Hope you have a great evening.

Take care

Challenge day 28: Incorporate an office-appropiate blouse into your look. ( sort of!)

Ok, Hands up, I have got the challenges mixed up today should be “ give a feminine dress some edge with a Moto jacket” so I will do that one tomorrow. Here's hoping there isn’t any challenge police.
Just so happens that I have the perfect jacket for that one too. Today the gorgeous leather IRO jacket I won in the Harvey Nic’s Style challenge was delivered and I am not disappointed, its a beauty.
Today however, I picked the perfect outfit to be running around picking up cakes and balloons and all things “Party” for Charlies birthday party on Sunday. It was his birthday 2 weeks ago but “Puzzling Paul” the children's entertainer is a busy man so we had to wait for him!
Good luck Puzzling Paul, to keep 25 4yr old’s entertained for 2hrs surely is nothing short of miraculous.
I also always have to buy tons of spring flowers to put on the tables, I am sure this is not really a necessity and Charlie probably doesn't give two hoots about them, but I think they look great along with the bunting. Yep, I have lost the plot.
Just checked the challenge for Sunday and it is leave the details to the shoes….Puzzling Paul maybe leaving minus his clown boots!

Back to today's outfit and I wore I blouse that I got from Littlewoods…Yes Littlewoods, It is a navy and white striped loose blouse and I think it looks great either with a midi skirt tucked in or casual with jeans as I have worn it today. Teamed with a black longline Jacket also from Littlewoods and I was good to go.
Hope you like it.
Hope you all have a great weekend. Let me know what you re getting up to, its always nice to be nosey!!!

Take care

Challenge day 27: Try a sleek and slouchy look

Slouchy is easy I could just keep my Pj’s on, I love a good Pj day, but to combine sleek and slouchy was a little confusing. I took it as loose fitting yet still smart, so I chose to wear my new “mom” jeans again. These jeans are my new favourite, they are the perfect fit for me, like the boyfriend jean but a bit slimmer, sort of inbetween skinny jean and boyfriend they definitely live up to their name. As we mature and if you have had children , you will appreciate the high waisted cut and the generosity on the bum and thighs, but then they are fitted more on the lower leg so it really is the perfect pair of jeans for hiding bumps and for comfort. I wasn’t sure at all until I tried them on, now I am completely sold. Try some you may feel the same!
I wore them with a cream shirt dress/top and a cropped black jumper over the top for the slouchy effect.
Seeing as though the weather has dropped about 10 degrees I also wore my big scarf from Zara and my grey wool coat. Finished of with some mirrored heels for the sleek part.
I have a new look blog coming soon which I am very excited about and also a new look me!
I am going for the chop on Wednesday and maybe a darker blonde, it has been getting lighter and lighter and is looking a bit dodgy of late.
So stand by for the pics, or maybe I will be wearing a lot more hats!

Take care

Challenge day 26 : Wear a bold coat with simple essentials.

I have managed to get to Day 26 without worrying that I don’t own the item needed…until today. I don’t own a bold coat because they just aren’t my cup of tea. I can’t remember when I last owned a bright coloured coat ( maybe when I had a bright red one at about 7yr old) so my heart sank when I saw this challenge, should I borrow, beg or steal one! No because then it would not be my style or my interpretation of the challenge. So then with a light bulb moment I realised that bold doe’s not have to be colourful, patterned or with bells on but it could be bold for its shape. The perfect example of this is a Vivienne Westwood ( I like Vivienne Westwood coats) that I have had for a good few years now and it is asymmetrical and unusual in its draping. It is basically like a big snuggle from a huge blanket and when I first got it I wore it to death. It is a comfortable hug of a coat and even with the temperatures rising ( slightly) it is very lightweight and easy to wear.
I have teamed this coat with simple essentials as the challenge requests so my new “mom” jeans and converse were the obvious choice.
Do you own bold coat?  If so, please tell me about it.

Which has been your favourite challenge so far? I think mine is Wear the item that you have been “saving”, Simple and classic .

Have a great day

Take care

Challenge day 25: Dress up distressed jeans.

Loving the last few days of the challenge, today is what I normally do.. Jeans, jacket, heels is my uniform, although I am being a bit more adventurous thanks to this challenge and a few things I will be carrying forward to my everyday style.
Distressed boyfriend jeans can be worn whatever your age I think and dressed up or down they are so easy to wear.
I have worn them today with an Equipment silk shirt, Missoni Jacket, Asos silver heels and Next silver belt. The silver shoes are a new purchase from Asos and I know that I can wear them with lots of things in my wardrobe, I am now on the hunt for some metallic flats and may purchase some brogue type “man” shoes, which look great with boyfriend jeans and feminine shirt/blouse.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you are sitting down, I have now in my possession a bright PINK pleated midi skirt..Yes you heard it, this challenge has sent me into a colour frenzy and the colour fairy has put a spell on me for sure. I don’t know when I shall wear said skirt, maybe on mothers day. When I tried it on my little Charlie said “OH Mummy you look like a princess!” My eldest on the other hand said I looked like a big fairy, before disappearing back into his bat cave, so opinion is divided and I am hanging onto the princess theory.

Have you worn something that is out of your comfort zone lately?
Please let me know.

Take care

Challenge day 24: Layer in an unexpected way.

Straight away when I saw this challenge I thought “Superman” …..pants over leggings. That would be very unexpected when I picked the kids up from school, and I white tight jacket with lots of straps would probably be my next outfit!
Bra over top? That would be unexpected too.
Keeping it realistic and legal I decided to go for the new trend of dress over jeans/trousers.
I actually like this look, but I think for me without it looking ridiculous the dress length has to be quiet short. A long dress with trousers would make me look like I am trying to impersonate Will-i-am, so I stuck with a shift dress with leather detail at the bottom.
It is a great look if you are feeling a bit thick on the thighs because it cuts that area out and starts showing the legs at their slimmer parts, so that's a bonus!
I went for black on black as well which is a stark contrast from yesterdays post in my summery mustard, but today was like another season, dark, dull and really chilly.
How would you layer in an unexpected way? I would be interested to hear.
I have got a few treats from ASOS to spruce up my wardrobe, so I will share them with you over the next few days ( challenge’s permitting)
I have also been asked to guest blog for, believe it or not Strata homes. They have started a blog and wanted a fashion input on trends and styles that would influence interiors. I am really excited about it and thrilled that in only a couple of months things are already looking promising.
I must also say that I am grateful for all my readers and I love all of the comments which I do try to answer to each and everyone.
Until tomorrow..
Take care

Challenge day 23: Wear a colour you haven’t worn for a while.

Happy glorious spring Sunday! What a great weekend, BBQ’s were being dusted of across the country no doubt and that feeling of warmth on your skin is like meeting a long lost friend.
Today's challenge did worry me a bit, being Miss black and cream I did have to think about this, and when I opened my wardrobe the lack of colour was evident. So the summer wardrobe was scanned and I decided to pick a silk mustard top I have had forever from French Connection. I love this colour with gold accessorises and red lippy, so feeling all summery teamed it with mustard yellow sandals and jeans.
It was lunch with the family today and I had a lot of compliments on the colour and my outfit. It really has surprised me during this challenge that to go outside of your comfort zone but to keep inside of your own style really works. I will definitely wear more colour and have infact just ordered a pink pleated midi skirt from ASOS which I wouldnt have gone for before. I am not saying I will go as far as mixing prints but baby steps..
Which colour do you seem to avoid and why? Please let me know.
Hope you have all enjoyed the sunshine, enjoy the rest of your evening.

Challenge day 22: Keep it simple in skinnies and a sweater.

Yippee! My kind of challenge, especially on a Saturday..Perfect.
I am feeling a bit under the weather so I wanted to be comfortable and skinnies and a sweater is exactly what I would normally wear when feeling like this.
After sending Mr HOL out to do the shopping for me,  I had a little route around in his wardrobe as I wanted to wear a loose fitting fine knit jumper and Voila! I got my hands on a black V-neck cashmere wool loveliness by MCQ Alexander McQueen and it was the exact fit for me , loose on the arms and body but not massive.
I have acquired a fawn coloured MCQ jumper from Mr HOL as it had made it into the tumble dryer and didn’t fit him anymore (Ooops!) so I am now looking at this one and I can feel little devil horns sprouting through my hair….
I didn't go as far as borrowing his jeans and quiet frankly if they fitted I would be in a deep depression!
So I teamed the black jumper with my favourite skinnies from Topshop and to give the outfit a bit of a zhoosh, I wore Micheal Kors shoe boots and bright orange Mulberry bag .
