Black lace or in your face?

In my outfit post today I am wearing my favourite top at the moment. It is really beautiful and I have taken a close up of the lace to show you the detail. It is all lace and for the more daring (and younger) fashion fans it would look great for a night out with a bandeau bra, but for me a cotton camisole underneath is the look I prefer ( and can get away with).
The high neck and delicate cuffs make it almost feel “Victorian” and I love the fact that it is glamorous  and seductive but without having anything on show.
I am a massive believer that a woman can look so much more attractive without giving to much away, if you know what I mean!
A woman in a sharp tuxedo black trouser suit with a little cami underneath to me can look so much sexier than a woman in a bandage dress.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree, that most woman dress for themselves and other woman or dress for men?
I styled the lace top with black high waisted skinny jeans from Topshop, black shoe boots from Micheal Kors and cream coat from Zara.
It is funny at the moment trying to get some photo’s because we have got some builders at are house doing some alterations and the only chance I get to do them is either first thing in the morning ( and we all know how early builders turn up) or when they go for there lunch. So depending on what I am doing, I have to think of when I can get some pic’s.
I think they would think I was seriously in love with myself posing on my own in the back garden.

I love the fashion blogs that have fabulous photos of someone strolling across a pedestrian crossing on a busy street… but until I get more confidence the back garden it is.

Hope you have had a great Monday,
Until tomorrow, take care

Day to night

I went to Leeds with my best friend to see Denise Van Outen in a one woman play on Saturday which was absolutely fantastic, she has got such an amazing voice and to hold the stage on her own for nearly 2 hours was incredible.
We also went shopping and for cocktails afterwards so I really had to think about what I was going to wear.
I decided to go for my leather trousers, black shirt and black jacket and to brighten up all the black a big tartan shawl from Zara, which I could put in my bag for the night time.
I also wore black and mesh heeled boots and took my Chanel pumps in my bag just in case we shopped till we dropped.
I thought that this outfit suited all of the “occasions” of the day and with the jacket and scarf off I felt perfectly at home sipping cocktails at night.
What would be your day to night outfit at the moment?

I am also going to try and wear a skirt this week it is my mission of the week and I have the perfect skirt to show you.

It is of course Valentines Day on Friday and I will be getting excited to plan a nice outfit for that as well.

What will you be doing on Valentines day? Are you romantic or not? I am a hopeless romantic and love Valentines, I am also lucky to have a romantic hubby (well trained) so they are always great days.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Take care
Amanda

Dress down Friday

Can’t believe it is Friday already, it seems to have flown by this week and the start of the year to be honest , we will soon be on Valentines day and half way through Feb!
I am going to do a post next week on Valentines goodies so keep your eyes peeled for that.

The sun is shinning today and it is really quite warm so I opted for a sleeveless blouse in black from Topshop and wore a fine knit stripey jumper over it from Maison Scotch. I am not a huge jumper fan and don’t really have many in my wardrobe at all, its just not an item that draws my attention when I am shopping , unlike shoes which I am convinced they put magnets inside because the draw to them is uncontrollable. But this jumper is so lightweight and fine knit that I can wear it with different tops underneath.

I also wore Baxter jeans from Topshop and my lovely slip-on shoes from Kurt Geiger.
The outfit is in my neutral and “safe” tones and I feel very relaxed and chilled in these colours.

Looking to the weekend ahead and I am very excited about going to see Denise Van Outen in a play called "Some girl I used to know". It is a one woman show and the reviews are fantastic so I will let you know what it was like. It is with great regret that I will have to visit Harvey Nic’s aswell ….when in Leeds!

So tomorrows “Theatre, shopping and cocktails” outfit will hopefully be on the blog on Sunday.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend whatever you are doing. Let me know if you are having a “dressed up” weekend or a “casual chilled” one.

Take care

Boyfriend Blues

Hi folks!
Today I ventured out as the torrential rain and gale force winds sudsided. It amazes me how it can be so different each day, yesterday there were trees blowing across the street, the river that runs behind our house was uncomfortably high and the rain seemed to be coming down in blocks. But today it was calm, mild and even a little bit of sunshine. It was almost like I had slept through a whole season ( wishful thinking with a three year old ) .
So I decided to wear my faithful boyfriend jeans with my equally faithful Joseph cashmere jumper and scarf.
These boyfriend jeans are the perfect fit for a tall woman. They are New Look tall ones and are long enough for me to roll them up a few times and are high rise enough for me to keep my dignity when bending over! So tall ladies these are the boyfriend jeans for you.
I also wore my scrumptiously soft cashmere colbalt blue jumper from Joesph, which ( apart from my orange phase) is probably the most colourful thing in my winter wardrobe. I was just drawn to the colour, which is bizarre for me and when I tried it on I was sold and with a matching scarf it was hard to refuse. I am a sales assistants dream.
Teamed with my grey Kurt Geiger court shoes and I was good to go.
Hope you like this look. What is the most colourful outfit you own and is it out of character or are you a colouful kind of person?
Let me know your favourite colour combo’s.

Now I would like to ask a BIG favour… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!!!!
I have entered a real women model competition for FEVER LONDON and would be massively gratful if you would take a minute and vote for me as it is all on the votes.
I would absolutely love it and it would give me a much needed boost in confidence after such a rubbish year. So vote  VOTE HERE

THANK YOU
Take care

Red lips and zips

Back to an outfit post today and one that is pretty much my standard , comfort zone look ( as you may have already gathered). Skinny jeans, top , jacket and boots. Today's skinnies are Topshop coated black ones which have zips on the ankles and zipped front pockets, they go with everything and have a great fit to them. I wore these with my silk zip front black top from The Kooples which again I have worn with everything and in every season, a really versatile top which I highly recommend. The jacket I wore today is a heavy knit biker style jacket with zip front by Maje. So as you can see I did’nt realise until I looked at my full outfit that I was sporting a whole lot’a zips!!  With all the black I was wearing I decided on a splash of red lipstick to give me a lift and there you have it… Red lips and zips.

We have been to see Jacks Neuro surgeon today at Sheffield, and he seems to be quite pleased with Jack’s progress, and best of all the tumour that is left is behaving itself and is not yet growing, so fingers (and everything) crossed.

What have you been wearing on this lovely day? Do you feel more comfortable in jeans/trousers or skirts?
It would be interesting if you could send me your comments, I would like some more skirt inspiration. I do tend to wear skirts just for “occasions” and not day to day.

Until tomorrow
Take care
Amanda

Wish list wonders

Happy Monday everyone!
I am not posting a personal outfit on the blog today as today I have attempted a long awaited spring clean on my house, and I don't think many of you would be inspired with leggings and a baggy t-shirt combo. So I thought with spring on my mind I would write a post about a few items that are on my spring wardrobe wishlist.
Firstly is this amazing skirt from ASOS. I have surprised myself with this one, because I have absolutely nothing pink in my wardrobe at all, but I think just the shape of it drew me in and left me swooning. It oozes femininity and would look fabulous with a white blouse tucked in or a slim fit cashmere jumper.
It will also look great with this seasons “ice-cream” colours and could be worn for work, cocktails or lunch with the girls. I LOVE IT!
What do you think?

I would wear this with my next wish list item a classic silk cream shirt from Equipment. It is there signiture shirt and comes in a few colours and is in my eyes a wardrobe essential. The silk fabric on this shirt is honestly one I have not felt on any other silk top it is so soft and luxurious that you know it is top quality. I have one in a orange colour, it's almost two tone and great in summer with a cream skirt.

I would finish this dream outfit off with a pair of Jimmy Choo (it is a “WISH” list ) Typhoon pumps.
I am actually sighing when I am writing about these, I love the mix of neutral colours and the style is just sublime. Shoe heaven for me.
What do you think?

So I am going to dream about the scrumptious marshmallow sweetness of this outfit and pretend it is actually in my wardrobe.

Sweet Dreams

Party dress.

Hope you are all having a great weekend and gearing up for the week ahead.
I had a great Saturday night at a friends wedding reception and it was lovely to have some time with my hubby.
I mentioned before that I had seen a gorgeous Amanda Wakeley cream dress and I decided to buy it as I just think it will get plenty of wear, especially in the summer and on holidays. It is the perfect cut and shape for me and is fitted over the waist and hips and flares out at the bottom. apologies for the photographs as you can’t really see the details of the dress as they were taken in the hotel room, which didn't have great lighting.
I teamed the cream dress with black Micheal Kors peep toe shoe boots and my beautiful Alexander Mcqueen knuckle duster black clutch bag.
I love getting dressed up and have started to get quite a collection of dresses, which I only started wearing in the last 5 years. I always used to dress up skinny jeans or slim trousers with heels. I don’t really know why I didnt wear dresses, I dont have an explanation for it and love wearing them now, this is the biggest change in my evolving style but I always stick to my rules of minimalistic and great cut.

Hope you like my outfit.

Until tommorrow, Take care
